Whisper and Heal

The Road Now

Man and child stood in the darkness, look back said the child. The man looked back and wondered if perhaps the darkness was darker than usual, for he saw nothing. The child tugs and says, it’s there, all that once made you great, is still there, it’s here, and it’s in front of you. The child begins to weep, and says you must move backward while going forward, see what you think is lost. Our time together will change and I will weep no more. How is it that you are so wise, for you are just a child? I am the part of your grandfathers soul passed along to you, you must pass it along with a part of yours, we’ve much work to do. The man looks toward the child and asks, what is it that I must now do? The child wiping away tears says, go beyond the gates, into the known. Keep walking and whisper, whisper the words until you begin to see. The man hugged the child as the gate opened. Go now said the child I will see you when you arrive.

The man began to walk forward into the darkness, he could hear the child begin to weep. As he walked, he whispered the words and he began to see. As he approached the distance he saw a cage, as he whispered, a gentle light appeared above the cage, and he could see a chain from the ceiling suspending the cage in shackles. He was drawn to see what was inside, in the darkness behind him the weeping stopped. He looked inside the cage and saw a bird, a Raven, he leaned in for a closer look and noticed that the birds eyes were missing. Startled the man withdrew, and the sounds of the weeping child were once more, as if to say whisper, whisper. The man whispered an saw, he saw next to the cage sunflower seeds, he fed the bird, then he saw more seed, better seed, as he gentle whispered, he fed the bird.

The man curious about the birds missing eyes took another close look, the Raven slowly turned his head toward the man, and unlike any Raven or bird he had ever seen there were new eyes on the front of the birds head. Knowing the child would again weep, the man whispered as he looked back, he saw the child  under a dim light in the distance, tears falling from his eyes down to the floor. The tears flowed toward the man, cupping his hands, he reached down, scooped the tears, and took them forward toward the Ravens cage. Approaching he noticed the the cage door was open, and the bird now featherless, was on the floor, it walked toward the man. The man kneels, the Raven drinks the tears. Whisper and heal said the Raven as he walked away. But your feathers, without them you can’t fly, said the man. The bird never looked back. The man watched as the Raven walked and slowly changed, beautiful feathers appeared, wings began to spread, the bird began to sing, then flew, returned and reminded the man to continue moving forward always whispering.

When I read this Adam, I immediately thought of a passage from Joshua.

1:6 Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to posses all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.”

and then, just one verse later:

:7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, truing either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

:9 This my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

There is something very powerful about what you wrote here:

    moving forward….moving on…..
    one step at at time.

Thank you so much for this Adam. It is really a powerful message that God usued to confirm where I am at personally.
    Thank you.

Storie, I like the connection. It is where I am right now. And the verse from Joshua really helps.

The story is a dream I had, and is part of my lifes journey.

There is more to it and it is very deep.

I am trying to figure out the best way to tell it.

Notice that Joshua is exhorted many times within a few verses to be strong and of good courgage.
any time in scripture things are three=peated, I take note!

Keep your eyes fixed on Christ, the author and FINISHER of our faith.

I keep wondering why it’s necessary to whisper. I think I go through life kind of noisy-ish. I agree wholeheartedly that it is deep and meaningful, but sometimes you have to yell.

As for the raven, you have been betrayed. The cage I think means that you are having a frustrating time getting through it. And the missing eyes are you trying to heal the wounds.

    I’m a dream dissector, it’s kind of a hobby.

I hope I didn’t ruin the deepness of the post, it was very good!
